Height: 5'3"
Race: Caucasian.
Body Type: Jay has a pretty feminine body. He's skinny although he has wide hips. Most of his weight seems to go to his thighs. He has a small waist to represent the way the actual state caves in on both sides toward the central areas.
Hair Color: He was born with blond hair but started to dye his hair dark brown in the early 1900s. He kept it brunette ever since excluding during the 1930s when he let his hair color fade.
Eyebrows:
Type- Pretty thick and arched. Squarish.
Color- Dark brown. Obviously they were naturally blond although he didn't realize he could dye his eyebrows until the mid 1900s years after he started dying his hair.
Eyelashes:
Length- Average.
Color- Black.
Eye Color: Sky blue. His left eye is a few shades lighter due to being blinded.
Teeth: Straight but appear a tinted yellow color. He's been an avid tobacco smoker since the 1800s so it altered his teeth color.
Scars:
-Left eye is permanently blind. (Wound from the Revolutionary War. Over 100 battles were fought on New Jersey soil during the Revolution leaving the state pretty beat up by the end of it. Although Jays eye has healed since then his vision never came back.)
Body Mods: He spray tans during the colder months which tints his skin orange. He gets made fun of a lot because of it but he won't stop anytime soon. He'd rather be orange than pale.
Outfits:
Main Outfits- A buff colored hoodie that has a white star on the left sleeve. Gray skinny jeans, black converse, and black sunglasses. This outfit works well throughout most days of the year especially the chilly days which the state has a lot of. He wears his shades during most of the day whether he's outside or not. He believes he looks better with them.
Style- Jay's wardrobe consists of mostly hoodies and light jackets that he wears during every season except summer. He usually matches them with a random t-shirt. He does own a few Rutgers and NJ Devils shirts which are his favorite ones. During the summer he likes to wear sleeveless shirts along with shorts. He usually wears the same kind of shoes throughout the entire year though.
Relations
Family:
-New York/James. (James is Jay's older brother. They have a very odd relationship with each other. They can never seem to decide whether they like each other or not. One moment they'll be yelling insults at each other and the next they'll be acting like best friends. Jay won't admit it but he really does love his brother. Even though he can be really annoying he loves spending time with him and craves his attention. Most of Jays anger toward James come from jealousy which he won’t admit either.)
-Vermont/Evan. (Evan is Jay's nephew. They're a little awkward around each other and only really talk at meetings. Jay thinks Evan is cool. He likes anyone who shares a love of horses.)

-Rhode Island/Roger. (Fiancé. They've been dating since the 1980s. Jay is head over heels in love with him. He can sometimes get really clingy without even realizing it. Sometimes he'll have phases where he gets upset and doesn't believe that Roger loves him back but deep down he knows he does.)

-Sir McMuffin. (Female orange tabby cat. The name is random and doesn't have a reason or meaning.)

-Pennsylvania/Brian. (They've been best friends for as long as they can remember. They first met each other in the late 1600s and since they both spoke Dutch they hit it off real well and have been attached ever since. They know everything about each other from their darkest secrets to their favorite things. Jay doesn't know what he'd do without Brian. Hes one of the most important people in his life.)

-Connecticut/Edison. (Edison and Jay are drinking buddies. They often go out to bars and parties and just have a fun time together. Jay thinks Edison is a cool person and is thankful to have him as a friend. Though he does fight with James over who Edison likes more.)

-Delaware/Maxwell. (They don't exactly talk much since they have nothing in common but Jay thinks he's a savage. He used to have a crush on Max when they were kids but it never went anywhere and nobody ever knew about it. Jay only liked him for his hair and smile anyway.)
-Maine/Philip. (They bond over similar interests such as honey bees, salt water taffy, and liking the beach but that's about all they have to talk about. They only really talk at group events. Jay really likes him though he thinks he's cool.)

-Maryland/Mark. (Jay and Mark used to date each other in the early 1800s. It didn't last for long since their relationship was pretty toxic. They were never "in love" with each other. They just confused attraction for love. When they were dating Mark was out of the closet and Jay was not which did not end up mixing well. Jay was extremely embarrassed by all the gossip about them and often took his anger out on Mark. This went on for a few years until Mark admitted he still had feelings for DE. Jay was crushed by the news and broke it off. Jay has yet to apologize and doesn't plan on it. In the present Jay and Brian talk a lot of shit about Mark and make passive aggressive comments toward him.)

-Dutch. His first language which he mostly spoke in his younger years. He doesn't speak it so much anymore but him and his brother use it to gossip. It usually doesn't work since it's obvious they were talking shit.

Accent: Mostly a harsh North Jersey accent. The South Jersey side of his accent is a little less harsh but still noticeable especially on certain words.
Misc.
Religion: Judaism. NJ has the second largest Jew population in the country. The state has always been accepting of other religions especially during the colonial years which is when Jay picked it up.
Although he is Jewish he isn't very strict with most of the rules as he used to be. Most Jews break the rule about eating pork and so does Jay. He just doesn't eat it during the Jewish holidays.
Residence:
Main- An old Dutch colonial house in South Jersey (Town to be decided) He spends the most time at this house. Its pretty old but he doesn't mind. He keeps his garden there which is very important to him.
Other-
-A large apartment in Hoboken. Jay likes this apartment a lot but doesn't go to it as often as he wishes. He sometimes enjoys it way more than his main house especially when hes feeling lonely. Being in the city makes him feel less alone.
-A beach house in Point Pleasant. Its right in front of the beach so its only a quick walk to get there. Jay goes to it every summer and is his favorite out of all his houses. Since he only uses it in the summer he rents it out to someone else during the winter months.

Factual:
-He smells like burnt rubber and cigarette smoke. The state smells like burnt rubber in some parts, especially North Jersey due to there being many factories. He smells like cigarettes too since he smokes pretty often. He’s grown immune to it but other states still tease him or get grossed out over it. It bothers him but not enough to do anything about it.
-He doesn't clean up after himself. Representing how dirty most areas of the state are. NJ has 108 toxic waste dumps which is more than any other state. Jay would rather push everything under the couch or bed and worry about it later rather than clean it at that moment. He has dishes overflowing the sink and a closet with no clothes hung up, just dirty clothes thrown on the floor of it. It takes a lot to convince him to tidy up.
-Curses a lot. The state is known for its citizen's foul mouths. Its common for people to curse in every sentence no matter the situation. Jay isn’t phased by curse words and barely notices when he’s saying them.
-He's really clumsy. Represents the amount of preventable accidents that happened in the state. One example being the boardwalk fire right after it was rebuilt from the Hurricane Sandy damage. He’ll often trip over things or get himself hurt in really ridiculous ways.
-He likes to try to invent small things. Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, phonograph, and much more in New Jersey. Jay isn’t very good at it and most of the things he comes up with are pretty useless but he’s still proud of it.
-He is extremely smart although he doesn't act like it sometimes. Princeton College, located in Princeton New Jersey, is the best college in the United States. He’s more book smart than street smart.
-He doesn’t like being alone. He likes to be surrounded by people even if he doesn't know or like them. New Jersey is the most densely populated state.
-He may be smart but he's also very gullible. One factual example being the whole state was convinced that Marshians were invading Earth after a radio show told a Halloween story. Other states sometimes take advantage of this especially his brother. Jay will eventually believe anything no matter how ridiculous if it’s told to him enough times.
-He calls people “Boss" when he forgets their names or just doesn't know them. This word is used a lot in the state.
-Carries a tall water bottle with him most of the time. New Jersey is home to the world's tallest water tower.
-Enjoys going to drive-in movie theaters. The first drive-in theater opened up in Camden. He likes to take his friends or partner to them. He makes sure to bring a lot of snacks from Wawa every time.
-Knows how to hot-wire a car. New Jersey is the car theft capital of the world. Jay doesn’t his knowledge for criminal acts though. He usually does it to prank people he knows, especially his brother. Taking a car on a joy-ride and returning it after a couple hours never hurt anyone.
-Argues with New York a lot about who owns the Statue of Liberty. The land is owned by New York but it’s in New Jersey waters. Jay brings up every times that he basically pays and provides the electric to it. It’s one of his strongest arguments, that nobody believes or listens to. Mentioning the Statue of Liberty when Jay and James are together guarantees an eruption of screaming.
Other:
-His cell phone screen is always cracked. Hes very reckless with his phone and drops it a lot. He will use his phone until it doesn't work anymore or a new version comes out.
-Sticks to android phones but has an apple ipad and mac.
-Has a resting bitch face.
-Heavy sleeper. Once hes asleep hes knocked out theres no way to wake him up.

Overview: Jay has a very negative outlook on life. He constantly looks on the negative side of situations and tends to dwell on inconveniences no matter how big or small. This usually leaves him peeved most of the time. It's extremely rare for him to fully enjoy an entire day in his life. There will always be something that ticks him off and leaves him in a bad mood.
Other people are usually the source of his anger and unhappiness. He isn't afraid to voice his disapproval of others whether it's someone he is familiar with or a complete stranger. Getting into heated arguments seems to be a hobby for Jay. He gets into them even if he doesn't mean to. It's very easy for someone to get to him quickly since he's easily offended and misinterprets playful teasing as personal attacks.
Although he is a rude and unlikable person he does have a soft side. He is prone to loneliness and tries his best to surround himself with people even if he doesn't know or like them. He wants to talk to people and sometimes arguing is easier to him and holds a conversation longer than being friendly does. Jay is aware of others disapproval of him so he tends to attack others before they can attack him. Because of this he doesn't have that many friends. It's hard for him to make them and even keep them so he holds the few people that do like him very close. His friends often find him very annoying due to his clinginess.
Sadness is his second most common emotion. Jay has very low self-esteem. He's insecure about his body, face, height, and personality. He struggles to think about himself in a positive light and often brushes off the few compliments he receives. It's hard for him to hold back tears so when he is upset he can't help but to let it all out. It's difficult to calm him down or comfort him when he gets like this. He'll attempt to push others away but he'll give in sooner or later. Attention is the best thing to give him when he's upset.
As corny as it may sound the main thing that makes Jay happy is love. He's a hopeless romantic meaning in his mind love=life. Jay believes he cannot be happy unless he is in a healthy relationship. In reality romance doesn't change much about his lifestyle. It makes him a little less miserable but he overall stays the same.
Bad Habits: Jay has a couple of bad habits, one of them being smoking tobacco. His smoking habit is used to represent the amount of pollution in the state. New Jersey is the largest chemical producing state in the nation which is why Jay is a chain smoker. He can go a couple hours without smoking but thats only if he absolutely has to. He gets really stressed and is way quicker to piss off when he doesn't smoke for a while. Hes well aware he has a problem but just doesn't do anything about it.
Another bad habit he has is drinking alcohol too often. He usually drinks every other day and can control how much he drinks so he doesn't get wasted. Although at a party he has no control whatsoever and drinks as fast as he can. He usually doesn't stop until he's passed out drunk. When he's alone he drinks red wines, Coors light, and Yuengling it just depends on what he's craving. At parties or bars he prefers Jägerbombs and Martinis.
Overall, Jay knows he has an addictive personality and usually stays clear of other things he can possibly become addicted to but sometimes he has no control over himself.
Fears: Losing all of his friends is Jay's biggest fear. He doesn't know what he'd do without them. He appreciates anyone who actually likes him even a little bit and if people with some positive opinions about him were gone all of the confidence he has (which isn't a lot) would vanish. He craves attention and never wants to be lonely.
Jay also fears the Jersey Devil. Although he does find the story and sightings extremely interesting, encountering the creature would be his worst nightmare. He believes hes had a couple sightings himself.
The last thing he's afraid of is aliens. At one point the entire state was convinced the world was being invaded by Marshians after a radio show told a Halloween story. Others may laugh at his fear since the story was proven to just be fiction but Jay still believes aliens are out there.
Interests
Talents: He's pretty good at fixing things with what's laying around the house rather than the correct supplies. Even when he does have the correct supplies he can fix something but he's usually too lazy to go out to a store and buy them.
Jay is also pretty good at English horseback riding. The United States Equestrian Team placed its headquarters in NJ which makes the state popular with horseback riding. He goes horseback riding a lot when its warm outside and has a blast doing it every time.
Lastly, despite being unlucky, he's slightly good at gambling. Atlantic City is one of Jerseys most popular cities and well known for its casinos. He doesn't win every single time he goes but once in a while he hits a jackpot.
Favorite Color: Buff is Jay's favorite color since it's the state color and the one mostly seen on the flag. He also likes blue which is also a state color but he likes buff a little more.
Favorite Animal: Horses. The horse is the state animal of New Jersey and has more horses per square mile than any other state in the USA. Jay thinks they're very pretty and gets excited whenever he sees one. He loves spending time with the horses he owns and especially loves braiding their mains and tails.
Favorite Food(s): Taylor Ham/Pork roll egg and cheese is his favorite food of all time. It was named the official state sandwich and is one of the things Jersey is known for by its residents and tourists. Jay could eat this everyday for the rest of his life and not get tired of it once. He also loves Chicken Savoy. A famous secret recipe only found in Northern NJ. Originated from the Belmont Tavern. He loves to visit whenever he's in the area just for the chicken.
Blueberries are his favorite fruits since NJ is only second in blueberry production in the United States. He usually has them as a snack. He also likes tomatoes. A lot of residents look forward to when they're in season. Jay likes to slice up a bunch of them and put it on a plate and eat the slices one by one.
As for junk food he loves pizza. He often argues with New York about who makes pizza better. There's a lot of mixed feedback so nobody knows for sure. The New Jersey Italian Hot Dog is a classic in the state. He often orders it when he gets tired of pizza. Whenever he goes to diners he orders disco fries. They're mozzarella cheese fries with gravy and are often served in New Jersey diners.
Jay's favorite candy is salt water taffy. It's really popular in the state and originated in Atlantic City. He can eat an entire box in one sitting.
Favorite Drink(s): Coffee. Jay loves coffee especially from Wawa. He has a cup every morning and spends a lot of time making it perfect. He also likes slurpies but doesn't get them that often.
As for alcohol he really likes red wine and jägerbombs.
Favorite Flower: Violet. The Viola Sororia is the state flower.
Favorite Sports/Teams: The New Jersey Devils are his favorite team. He follows the news about them and brags when they win. He also likes the New York Jets and Giants since the teams home stadium, MetLife, is in East Rutherford New Jersey. And both teams headquarters are located in the state.
Other Likes:
-Wawa. A popular convenience store that's mostly seen in NJ as well as some parts of PA and DE. Most people from NJ go there everyday to get snacks and gas. Jay sometimes goes more than once a day and is lost when he can't go to one in other states.
-Amusement parks and rollercoasters. He loves roller coasters and gets season passes to six flags. The six flags in Jackson is very popular among its residents and tourists especially because it has the worlds tallest rollercoaster, Kingda Ka. Amusement parks near the boardwalk are very popular too.
-Gardening. NJ is the garden state after all. He grows his own crops in a small garden in his backyard. He cares a lot about his plants and spends a lot of time with them.
-Alcohol. Obviously since Jay is pretty addicted to it. New Jersey was the last to ratify the 18th amendment. The state did not want to get rid of alcohol.
-Parties. New Jersey has a lot of party life going on especially by the shore. He likes parties because it means he can be surrounded by people and get drunk.
-The beach. The Jersey Shore is a popular tourist attraction. Jay has a beach house by the shore and stays there every single summer.
-Summer. Jay loves the summer since he can go to the beach and boardwalk everyday. It's his favorite season because of this and he gets really upset when fall comes. Tourism is also one of the state's major incomes and tourists mostly visit during the summer.
-Yelling. A lot of people in the state seem to love yelling. Whether they're yelling at other cars in traffic or at people that just pissed them off they love doing it and so does Jay. He often has to be reminded to use his inside voice since he sometimes forgets to be more quiet.
-Shopping. NJ has the most shopping malls per square mile than any other state. Jay goes shopping all the time. It's fun to him. He loves going to all the different stores and buying a bunch of dumb things, especially clothes.
-Fancy Spoons. NJ is home to the worlds largest spoon collection at the Lambert Castle Museum. It has thousands of spoons collected from different countries and states. Jay tries to collect spoons himself especially the very pretty ones. He has a china cabinet with them in it.
-Honey Bees. Jay finds honey bees adorable and gets upset when someone tries to kill one. They are the state insect and his favorite color. He owns plenty of clothing items with "Save The Bees" printed on them.
-Hadrosaurus. The state dinosaur. He often brags that he has a state dinosaur.
-Halloween. Especially the Halloween parades. The world's second largest Halloween parade is located in Toms River. Jay rarely misses it.
-Monopoly. All the properties in Monopoly were named after real streets in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Jay has a love hate relationship with the board game. He always suggests it when with friends but rage quits halfway through as hes not very good at it.
Dislikes: He doesn't appreciate being called a guido since they are seen as awful people. He doesn't consider himself similar to one at all.
He also doesn't like most New Yorkers. Whenever he sees an NY license plate while driving he'll just assume they're awful at driving and try to pass them immediately. A lot of people from NJ don't like New Yorkers because of the lack of respect they have for New Jersey. They are often stereotyped to litter everywhere especially in the tourist spots. Although New Yorkers play a huge part in the tourist income Jay still doesn't like them.
Jay despises Snooki and the rest of the Jersey Shore cast. They gave his state an even worse name than it already had.
He really doesn't like pumping gas especially when its cold out. He'd rather sit in his car on his phone in the heat or air conditioning (depends on the season) rather than wasting his time standing outside. He hasn’t pumped his own gas since 1949 when the Retail Gasoline Dispensing Safety Act was passed. When he’s with other people he makes them do it for him. And even when he’s alone and stuck in a different state he always finds a way so he doesn’t have to do it himself. He doesn’t wanna lose his streak.
